Yahoo mail in Thunderbird
« on: September 14, 2010, 03:18:14 am »
Would some one kindly help me get Yahoo mail to work in Thunderbird.
I did download webmail some thing from add ons but don't seem to see where to set up. I did go to add ons and select webmail and did answer the few questions it asked. Do I need to set up account like I would my other accounts in Thunderbird?
Thanks for any help.

To be able to set up your Yahoo account in Thunderbird I think you need a premium Yahoo account. If you have one, it should be as easy as setting up a regular account in Thunderbird, and you should be able to find any info you need for Thunderbird to set-up on the premium Yahoo page.

Edit: I found several links like this one

but I have no idea if it works.

To get mail into Thunderbird you will need pop3 access. For Yahoo this is a premium service as mentioned previously. There are supposed work-arounds to this but I can't vouch for them. Just Google 'yahoo mail pop3 access' and you'll find several would be solutions.

Thanks for the replies.
I did manage to get yahoo mail by downloading the 'webmail' extension for Thunderbird and then following the instructions
Now where is that 'solved' button?  ;)
