Title: DEFINE DEBIAN CDROM SOURCE AS REPOSITORY 5I DON't HAVE INTERNET CONNECTION)
Post by: miaronyain on August 26, 2010, 06:02:41 pm
Hello,
i'm using pinguyOS linux at home where i don't have internet connection.
So for dvd repository i want to use debian dvd 5.0.1 lenny.
But when i go to synaptic software source and want to add cdrom, there's an error "E:failed to mount cdrom"
This error was already there till ubuntu 9.04 i used before...but i hope it was solved in ubuntu 10.04 or derivatives....but it seem not.
Can someone help?
Thanx in advance.

Nota:with ubuntu 8.04 there was no problem adding cdrom source , but as i don't have internet connection and i cannot upgrade using apt but i just install new version for look and feel/boot speed...

If you use debian dvd 5.0.1 lenny as a repository it will break Pinguy OS.
Pinguy OS 10.04.1.2 is less then a week old and was up-to-date when released so there are only a few updates for it anyway, the biggest one being OpenOffice.

Howdy There,

I wrote a handy little HOWTO you can find here (http://jeffhoogland.blogspot.com/2010/06/howto-installing-ubuntu-packages.html) for installing packages on Ubuntu based systems/upgrading packages when the system is offline. You just need another system with an active internet connection and a flash drive.
