Post by: jason on September 17, 2010, 03:50:29 pm
Hi generally i am getting used to the global menu bar.  However just installed XaraLX and dont seem to have any of the menu options.  so was wondering how i disable the global menu for a short while whilst I use Xara then turn back on when i switch back to inkscape...if only thee 2 became 1!!!

Just right click on it and select "Remove From Panel".

That will remove it from the panel but if you want your menus back,
open gconf-editor in the terminal. Type:

Code: [Select]
gconf-editor
then navigate to

/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/gtk_modules

There you should see two entries for globalmenu.  Just un-check them.

Nautilis has its own setting though.  You'll have to click on the wheel to the far top right of a window and then select "menu bar."
