Hi all. Just taking a test drive (virtual boot), but this one looks like a keeper. Nice work.

Hi everyone. Excellent OS. Been using Ubuntu for years but it was so refreshing to install a system and 'good to go' and not have to install this and that.
Dougie  :)
guess were all a 'Newbie'  ;D

Just installed Pinguy and think it's great
« Reply #12 on: August 26, 2010, 04:54:50 am »
I just bought a new notebook, ( eMachines E527-2537 ) from Amazon.com and wanted to get a Linux distro on it as soon as possible.
I found Pinguy OS on Distrowatch and used unetbootin to make a bootable usb thumbdrive.
I had no problems using the distro in live mode and it looked great, so I installed it and have had no problems at all.
Sound worked with no user intervention, and rythymbox picked up my home server and I was able to enjoy my music right out of the box.
The wireless setup was as simple as choosing the right network to join and typing in my password.
My logitech wireless usb mouse also worked as soon as I plugged it in.
I've installed Windows hundreds of times and Linux hundreds of times
and this was absolutely the least trouble I've ever had setting up ANY Operating System.
I've run the system update tool and had it update 50+ packages without messing up the system; - (I have NOT updated the kernel yet though it was offered) - I also installed amsn, but everything else I routinely use was already included in the install.

Thanks so much for this great distribution.

Hi everyone and thank you for all the positive comments and for using Pinguy OS. If you like what I am doing please spread the word. Pinguy OS has only be online for less then two months but the overwhelming response for it has been positive. I just want to thank everyone that has help promote Pinguy OS and for believing in such a young project.

With the help from the community Pinguy OS will grow and become even better with each release.
