Apps like this are very helpful except in one regard-- people you share with must be Giver users as well. A household with several computers might have Giver on them, but surely your buddies who come over and want a share on the LAN don't.  So the usefulness goes down exponentially. Still, it looks nice, and I bet I would find a use for it sometime.

A recent update has the Thunderbird icon on Docky now showing the number of unread messages. This duplicates the information in the notifications area, but it looks much more attractive in the Thunderbird icon.

Just an observation; after all the time and date are duplicated in the panel and Conky.

You can hide the unread messages in the notifications area. Go to Thunderbird > Tools > Addons > FireTray Preferences > Mail Settings > untick "Show number of unread mail"

Is there an option that I am missing for Thunderbird to NOT have a tray icon at all? It already works with the Ubuntu mail notification icon, so why have both?

Sorry in advance for the thread hijack.

[Edit: obviously, you can achieve the above by simply disabling the firetray plugin]

Please consider adding Virtualbox guest additions by default. It's nice to install on a different machine virtually and have all the goods immediately without the fuss.

Check out this pic:

Yes, that's K3b running in Gnome with a global menu!  It's still in the works but something to keep an eye on for the future.
